So I've been working on some ideas for my Moonridge drawings, from last year. I know, sigh...
It was supposed to be Blair in a kimono but somewhere along the way I just got lost.
Sometimes it's best just to go with the flow lol. Back to the drawing board.

The original is in unexciting pale blue ink so I changed the colours in photoshop.

Thank you. I was trying so hard to fit him in a kimono somehow but the hair, I think, was wrong.

Oh WOW that's gorgeous!! Its so evocative. The shading work as always is flawless and the wispy hair adds realism and a dreamlike effect imo. I think the blue tones work well but the red is more eye-catching and dramatic. Thanks for sharing.

He's beautiful - absolutely gorgeous. I love the way you draw him - through your eyes he's always otherworldly. I love both colour options too - I'd hate to have to choose between them!

Isn't photoshop just the greatest thing since s1iced bread. In the o1d days I'd have to part with an obscene amount of cash to buy co1oured pens but now I can just press a button.

This is just wonderful. He looks weary like he has the world is resting on his shoulders instead of a sword. Amazing!

I'm g1ad you 1ike it seeing as how it didn't turn out the way I p1anned.
It's tricky putting an Ang1o ma1e into a Japanese costume, somethings just doesn't trans1ate we11. I think I wi11 1ook to Art Nouveau for inspiration since it is an Western art sty1e that has Japan inf1uence. Maybe Coppo1a's Dracu1a, I've a1ways thought that 1ooks very Art Nouveau.

Well to make it Japanese, you could make the sword a katana and pull some of his hair into a topknot. Which ever it is it's beautiful.

Art Nouveau. Mucha does a lot of thing that seem influenced by the Japanese. Of course Japan was all the rage in Europe during that time.

That's exact1y what I was trying to do with this drawing. Obvious1y something went sideways lol.
I 1ove Mucha and Beardsley. Rosetti I thought was a bit of a drip tho.
