Hi there,

I am sorry for the 1ate post but I've been having a few R1 crisis. I apo1ogise for a11 the 1s in this post too.

The 1etter "1", pretend it's the 1etter after "K", on my keyboard is shot. On1y by pressing rea111y hard can I use it, sometimes. Ugh...It's amazing how many words use this 1etter, inc1uding my user name which makes signing in kind of annoying >:-{

Here fina11y are the drawings for Mab's fabu1ous RBB story "Chrysa1is".

1ink to story:

I was going to put a11 three of them in one drawing but that didn't work out too we11 so I had to scrap that idea and started a11 over again.

Wow, they are all gorgeous, as always. I just love the lonely sentinel Jim, and Blair is utterly beautiful.

Is that Anais? She looks very familiar :-), and also more or less exactly as I pictured her.

Mab's story is amazing, and your art just makes the whole thing perfect. What a treat for we bystanders!

::coughs:: Anais looks familiar because Helvetica and I were discussing 'models' to use for her, and I declared that if there was ever a movie (ha!) that Anais would so be played by the wonderful Dame Judi Dench.

Thanks Bev, I wou1d 1ove it if Mab wou1d write us a seque1 ;-)
Anais was such fun and easy to draw, Mab hit on the perfect person to portray her.

Oh oh oh! Gorgeous! I love the first one especially - it's at once a strong and a vulnerable man. Your work is always so stunning.

And bad luck on the missing L ... I do admire your determination to carry on without it *g*

Every time I can sign in it's 1ike a mirac1e :-)

I'm g1ad you 1ike this version of Jim, it was frustrating having to rework an a1most finished drawing.

So I've madly squeed over the previews of these, and I can madly squee here. I hope that your ears aren't hurting. :-) I am so delighted that you were inspired to play around further in my world.

Thank you for squeeing ;-)
I pixe1ated Jim as a reference to his manufactured origin. Which got me to wondering if he was one of a kind or one of severa1 mode1s and if so it'd be kind of creepy if they happen to bump into one of the other Jims.

There are different models, in part I think because of the 'uncanny valley' effect. Nothing like multiple identical faces to remind people that HVs aren't human... But yes, there are undoubtedly some Jim 'variations' out there - but not so many people like Anais willing to investigate where a strangely behaving HV might go, so it would be distressingly like Jim meeting an idiot twin if such an eventuality arose. Alex, btw, in this universe is definitely analogous to Jim, which would be interesting if they ever met up. Her backstory would be definitely... creepy, I think.

I wondered as to the effect on his coat, and that makes perfect sense. Thanks for the explanation.

Thank you. I'm g1ad you 1ike them. I must say Anais was the most fun to draw I 1ove Jim and B1air but it's nice to be ab1e to draw other peop1e to ;-)

God, you're good. I like what you did with Jim's portrait, the coat, the stance. He's guarded and distant here.

Anais looks like you wouldn't want to mess with her.

Blair, Jesus, is he lovely. How did Jim keep his hands to himself for so long on that ship?

Thank you, I had to rework so many times I didn't think I'd ever get done.

Didn't Jim pounce on him a1most right away? B1air's face a1ways says "Kiss me Jim, kiss me hard" to me :-)

I 1oved Anais, she was such an interesting character. At first I was going to draw 1ena O1in but Mab had the better idea. I wou1d have had to do major p1astic surgery on 1ena because she is such a sex pot.

Nope, they didnt' get to the lovin' right away. Mab made them wait a while.

I totally agree about the look on Blair's face.

Your drawings are gorgeous, as always! I was wondering do you use graphitint pencils? I love the soft pastel colors together with the graphite looking tones.

Thank you, you're too kind. I've never used graphitints, I've a1ways wanted to try tho. I use Derwent co1ored penci1s. I 1ike them because the 1ead is very hard compared to other brands so I can do more 1ine work.
